So I miiiiiggght have taken things a little overboard during this session… though not literally, because there was a boat and, luckily, no one fell out of it. Well. Into the water, at least. I fell out of it upon exiting the boat when we got on dry land and now have a beautiful bruise on my left shin. But that’s really just par for the course around here, anyway, when you’re a klutz AND a photographer AND there’s a boat and an adorable, loving couple just waiting for you to take their photos.
For the uninitiated, Lost Hill Lake Events is an absolutely gorgeous wedding venue in St. Clair that has multiple ceremony sites. One of the perks of having a wedding there is that you can also do your engagement session on the grounds, which is what Melanie and Jeremy chose to do.
I was a little schizophrenic on my editing, here, but I think that’s because we had so much variety in the photographs. From the back field and woods, to one of the docks on the lake, to a boat ride, to the large stones around the lake, to the woods, to the lake bridge, to another dock… in the first 30 minutes alone I felt like we had exhausted the ideas I had going into the session, and then we just winged it from there.
And the results are OH. SO. GOOD.
I mean, look at these two. They are so in love, so playful together, so happy. Upon first meeting them I thought they were shy and quiet, but I have the perfect thing for that – GAMES! We played some cute games first instead of “posing” and I mean, just look. They don’t look so shy! I had a blast with these two! They are genuinely sweet people. They’ve been together for 7 years now, and I think the rest of their life is going to be so beautiful, and full of so much more of THIS – and I loved hearing some of their backstory during the session (note: the first time Jeremy saw Melanie in high school, he ran into a locker looking at her, and he was holding hands with his then girlfriend! HA! Now if that’s not love at first site, I don’t know what is!).
Jeremy and Melanie, thank you so much for sharing these beautiful moments with me! I am so honored to be a small part of your wedding day and can’t wait to see it all come together next year!
